Frequently asked questions
How does the commission process work?
Once you reach out and we've discussed the details, I'll begin with a layout sketch — showing you exactly how your pet or animal will be positioned on the paper, the pose, and any key compositional choices, before I commit to the precision drawing. This is your chance to weigh in and make sure everything feels right. After you've approved the layout, I move into the full rendering. You'll always know exactly where we are in the process, and I'm available for questions throughout.
Do you require a deposit?
Yes — a 50% deposit is required to reserve your spot and get started. The remaining balance is due upon completion, before the artwork is shipped or handed off. This protects both of us and ensures I can dedicate the time and materials your commission deserves.
How long does a commission take?
Most commissions are completed within 4–6 weeks from the time the deposit is received and your reference photos are approved. If you're working toward a specific date — a birthday, holiday, or anniversary — please mention it when you reach out and I'll do my best to accommodate your timeline.
What payment methods do you accept?
I accept credit card, cash, Venmo, and Zelle. Payment details will be shared when your commission is confirmed.
What reference photos do you need?
Great reference photos make all the difference in capturing your pet's true personality. I'll send you a personalized photo guide when you commission, with tips on lighting, angles, and what to look for — so you know exactly what will work best before we get started. Don't worry if you're unsure; I'll walk you through it. If it's a favorite wild animal you'd like me to portray, I'm happy to find the perfect references for your vision as well.
Do you offer gift certificates?
Yes! A custom pet portrait makes a truly meaningful gift — and gift certificates are available so you can give the experience without needing to gather all the details yourself. Reach out and I'll help you put something special together.

The Process
Do you do memorial portraits?
Absolutely — and it is truly an honor to be trusted with that work. A portrait of a beloved pet who has passed can be a profound source of comfort, and I approach each one with the deepest care and respect. Older photos are welcome; just share the best ones you have and we'll discuss what's possible.
Pricing & Payment
Delivery & Framing
How is the finished artwork delivered?
Local clients in the Salt Lake City and Park City areas are welcome to arrange pickup in person — I love meeting the people (and hearing about the pets!) behind each commission. For clients elsewhere in the US, I ship carefully packaged artwork via a reliable carrier. Please note that shipping costs and applicable taxes are not included in the listed prices and will be discussed when your order is confirmed.
Do you ship internationally?
At this time I ship within the United States only. If you're located outside the US and would love a commission, feel free to reach out — I'm always happy to see if we can find a solution.
Do you offer framing?
Framing is not something I offer, and honestly — I think that's a good thing for you. Framing is an art form in its own right, and the right choice is deeply personal. It depends on your taste, your interior, and the story you want the piece to tell. Shipping framed artwork also comes with real risks: the costs can be surprisingly high, and even with careful packing, glass breaks. Rather than compromise on something so important, I'd encourage you to find a local framer you love and trust — someone who can look at the piece in person and help you make it shine. I package every artwork carefully so it arrives protected and ready for framing the moment it's in your hands.
Still have questions? I'd love to hear from you. Every commission starts with a conversation, and there's never any pressure.
