The Artist
I'm originally from a small town in the picturesque Netherlands, where even as a small child I was in love with the nature around me and spent many days playing in the little wood behind our house. As soon as I was able to hold a crayon, I started drawing…and simply never stopped. Art has always been a constant presence in my life since those early childhood days of endless imagination and I'm self-taught.
After I got married to my sweet husband Mike, a born and raised Utahn, we have since lived in this state of endless beauty that never ceases to amaze and inspire. As an artist, I express myself in realism with charcoal and pastels as my main mediums and draw evocative portraits of my favorite subjects (wildlife & pets) in lovely detail, with ‘a dash of imagination’ to capture a sense of childlike awe and wonder, as if we see the animal for the first time.
